Another Weekend in Wales

Besides planning to get my foot no summit of Tryfan for the first time, 2 days in Wales was enough to make memorable memories like getting lost on the way back from the climb at Dinas Cromlech, learning couple more rope skills, meeting new people and just enjoy the nature and sun supplying us with loads positive energy, and loads vitamins D ❤️

Here are some photos from Pont Pen-y-llyn, Dinas Cromlech where I have managed to lead Spiral Staircase which is an 83m 3 star D climb (a classic for the crag), and a photo from a small beginner crag where I have been thought by my climbing partner Liz how to ascend the rope using 2 prusiks. A very simple technique and fun to learn.

As for the Spiral Staircase, my ascend was not so flashy because due to tiredness from the walk the day before, or maybe the steep walk up to the crag with 2 bags on my back, I was a bit on edge leading the route. The first pitch was very tricky and exposed. Looked like not much for the feet before putting more good gear in. Kept on saying to Liz I can’t see anything, and after a while, I just said “screw it” and went for the moves accepting the fact I might fall bad. Of course, the moves were not as hard as I calculated then to be and I managed to get across with some decent gear in. I did get lost and missed my second pitch somehow, again I think I wasn’t thinking straight cause I was so tired. Continuing, since there was a lot of rope drag I have done a pitch in between the second and third where I have realised I have gone too far. It’s such a long route so the traverse just confused me. The climb did have some amazing views of the Llanberis Pass. In the end, I did enjoy it.

On the way down, we managed to get lost and had to do some extreme scrambling down to our backpacks. When I got back to my car I could indeed feel it finally in my legs. Advice, if you are planning to climb at Dinas Cromlech, make it a day out there so the walk up and down is worth a while 🙂

Greetings my dear reader. My name is Natalia and I am a 28-year-old Marketing with Advertising graduate from around the Midlands in England. I love to travel and do loads of road trips, but above everything, I love climbing adventures with my climbing buddies. With this blog, I would like to be able to note down my thoughts and share my adventures I can look back at in years’ time with a smile on my face. I am also on a search for more exciting adventures and self-development. Since I absolutely adore natural world I also want to develop my knowledge and skills to reduce as much waste as I can that is bad for the environment. I like feedback and others input so I always want to hear other people’s experiences and ideas.
